Will it be as good as the movie, you Tron fans decide…
Evolution is an epic adventure set in a massive digital world filled with high-mobility disc-based combat and advanced light cycles. Set during the era between the two TRON films, TRON: Evolution conveys the story of significant events within the TRON mythology.
“TRON: Evolution is barely a TRON game. It’s a repetitive cyberpunk Prince of Persia. The platforming and combat are flashy, but both feel awkward to control and get really competitive. All the cool things you’d expect in a TRON game are restricted to the limited multiplayer modes. If you’ve got 10 people you can play some fun multiplayer games, but there are only a half dozen maps including the day one DLC. If you want to find out what happens between the two films, then you at least get a bit of a story here. And if the developers keep expanding the multiplayer with DLC like they’re already doing then this game could be worth a purchase eventually. But right now TRON feels like a movie cash in game more than the next step in a classic gaming franchise.” We give this one 2.5 stars out of 5 stars.
Yu-Gi-Oh is back and well liked this one.
In Yu-gi-oh 5D’s Duel Transer, there are are more than 4500 of the most up to date card now. You can play the single player mode or duel anyone in the world via WiFi. You have 20 character whom you can choose from and play on a honeycomb grid to duel through 13 different stages. In each game you get 3 exclusive dueling cards.
“Duel Transer may be lacking in presentation, but not in content. The narrative structure gives the duels meaning, the board game adds a little extra gameplay, the difficulty will not inspire hair-pulling right away, and there are thousands of cards. This is a much better Yu-Gi-Oh! game than the recent XBLA release. If you love to duel and want to do so on a console, Duel Transer is the way to do it.” We give this one 3 stars out of 5 stars.
Who said history is not fun, it is with the Raving Rabbids?!
Customize your Rabbid with 30 wacky costumes, from Cowboy to Egyptian to Roman.Team up with up to four friends in more than 20 hilarious new and in-depth mini-games from flying to bouncing. Play in a wide range of the greatest moments in history-battle the Vikings, fly through the Renaissance, or even race King Arthur!
“Raving Rabbids: Travel in Time is just another Rabbids mini-game collection, so don’t expect an adventure game like Rabbids Go Home. If you’re a parent looking for something to distract your kids with, a word of caution: these Rabbids are really annoying and spamming the “burp/sing” button will be a major temptation for most young children. Despite the mediocre mini-games, the presentation is so well-executed that your kids might not notice. However, if you’re looking for a game to play with adults, this is not it.” We give it 4 stars out of 5.
The famous Mickey makes it to the Wii, here is the review of his debut.
Disney Epic Mickey is an action-adventure platforming game for the Wii console that sends Mickey Mouse on an epic journey of creativity and discovery. As Mickey, the player is propelled into Wasteland, an alternate world made up of Disney’s forgotten creative efforts, and is given the power to wield paint and paint thinner to dynamically change the world while determining Mickey’s path to becoming an epic hero. Through the use of this unique paint and paint thinner, the key components of animation and Mickey’s tools for impacting his world, players will have the ability to shape how the story unfolds as they discover the concept of “Playstyle Matters” – an innovative style of gameplay created by Disney Interactive Studios’ Junction Point, led by industry luminary Warren Spector, where players creatively tackle different challenges in the world to explore all the possibilities and storylines – but with consequences for their chosen actions.
‘Can a stellar story, fantastic characters, incredible cutscenes, and a solid core gameplay mechanic overcome numerous, fundamental problems with controls, the camera, and even continuity? In the end Warren Spector’s team has created a mightily impressive foundation. They’ve managed to get the toughest stuff right – it seemed almost impossible to make Mickey Mouse matter once again. They’ve even managed to take a nearly dormant character in Oswald and introduce him in a spectacular way, making him one of the most memorable video game characters of the year. And yet the “easier” stuff – finding a camera system that works, finding a control scheme that’s suitable – is flawed to the point where the larger experience becomes damaged. If story and character matter more to you than technical details, or if you and your family are Disney fans, many of these problems won’t matter. Ultimately, the positive elements of Epic Mickey do manage to make this worth a shot. Going in with the proper level of expectation should manage to keep some of the WiiMote throwing to a minimum… just keep that wrist strap tight.’ We give it 4 stars out of 5.
Calling all you NBA JAM fans out there!
EA SPORTS is bringing NBA JAM to a 2010 audience with everything that fans remember about the original (revolutionary visuals, over-the top gameplay and numerous unlocks and cheat codes) PLUS online capability. The winner of 8 “Best Sports Game of E3″ award, including the Game Critics Award, NBA JAM is a high-octane video game that is fun for everyone!
‘NBA Jam is a disappointing retail package, mainly because it would’ve been one of the greatest Xbox Live or PlayStation Network releases of all-time. As it stands, this $50 disc adds a few modes to the Jam that you know and love, but at the end of the day the reason that you’ll invest is the classic gameplay, not the Remix Modes. You have to ask yourself: is the classic gameplay and eventual addition of online multiplayer worth the rather hefty asking price? I’d say yes, if you’re a diehard Jam fan and no if it never impressed you back in the day.’ We give it 3 stars out of 5.
Controlled by a group of evil Tikis, the animals in Donkey Kong Island have raided Donkey Kong’s Banana Hoard and stolen his stash of bananas – and he understandably wants them back. Retro Studios brings Donkey Kong back in a new side-scrolling adventure with familiar characters and new levels that reignite the passion players had for the Super NES original.
‘Understand there are times where you’ll want to throw your controller against a wall — Donkey Kong Country Returns is not a cakewalk. It’s a hardcore challenge for the hardcore gamer, and because of its difficulty, it offers an amazing sense of satisfaction when you’ve completed a level that’s kicked your butt five ways to Sunday. Retro Studios may have dialed back its Metroid Prime-style innovation in favor of a more traditional platformer for its latest experience, but Retro’s modesty is still more impressive than another developer’s A game. Rare should be proud that its design is in the right hands. Or just insanely jealous. Either works.’ We give this one 4 stars out of 5.
Use your creativity and imagination to unlock a world of play! Create, the video game, tracks your creativity and rewards you for it. The more you create, the more you unlock rewards and exciting challenges to play, opening a world of fun as you go. Let your imagination run wild, as you create cool environments with easy-to-use tools, including animating objects, textures, and designs that bring your scene to life!
‘Create tries to stretch the family game in new directions, but the individual portions of the game feel like lesser versions of a lot of other titles on the market. Super Scribblenauts offers a less frustrating and more creative approach to problem solving; if you’re into making your own world, The Sims offers you much more freedom by allowing you to build it how you’d like. And both of those games give you personality and characters that you can feel some attachment to and care about. Create feels like a hodge-podge of small ideas that don’t add up to a satisfying whole.’ We give this one 2 stars out of 5.
This long awaited for COD, did not disappoint!
The newest installment in the biggest action series of all time and the follow-up to last year’s blockbuster Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops.
‘Call of Duty: Black Ops is a great overall package that has a ton of content to enjoy. The multiplayer modes are largely based on what was established by Modern Warfare, but the twists that Treyarch throws in work well. My biggest issue with the multiplayer is that the new Wager Matches, while fun in their own right, don’t compare favorably to the high-quality and addictive leveling system and game modes from Modern Warfare 1 and 2. Single-player is as exhaustingly fast-paced as ever with large set pieces that try to take the attention off of the lackluster AI of both friends and enemies. Thankfully, the story is the best I’ve ever seen from a Call of Duty game. Couple both of those substantial offerings with more Zombie content than some full-fledged zombie games and Black Ops is certainly worth your time, even if you aren’t already a fan of the series.’ We give this one 4.5 stars out of 5.
2010 has been good to Sonic and this one is no exception.
In Sonic Colors, the diabolical Dr. Eggman has hatched another plan for world domination! He has built an amazing interstellar amusement park, floating in space around Sonic’s home planet, bursting with incredible rides and attractions. However, all is not as it seems as Dr. Eggman has abducted an alien race called Wisps and is harnessing their colorful energy to fuel a sinister plot. However, before Dr. Eggman completes his evil plans, Sonic discovers his mysterious theme park in space. When he arrives, Sonic finds he is also able to use these alien powers and is ready to help! Sonic will need all his speed and skill as he faces this test, but, empowered by the alien energy, it’s a test he’ll pass with flying colors!
“Sonic Colors is a dizzying combination of the distantly familiar memories of the first few Sonic titles combined with thoughtful new abilities and mostly well executed level design. There are a few issues that mar an otherwise awesome experience, but those shouldn’t stop Sonic fans and Wii owners from grabbing the best Sonic game in 18 years. As a blueprint for the future of SEGA’s star, Sonic Colors delivers, and then some.” We give this one 4 stars out of 5.
