Take a Movie in in Your Living Room
Many people enjoy going to the cinema to catch the latest Hollywood hit. And action movies are crowd drawers everywhere. People will line up for hours just to be able to see the movie ahead of everybody else. But if you are not the type who enjoys watching in a dark movie house, you will just have to wait for the video to come out.
Many action movies are already available in video, VCD or DVD. You can choose from the latest releases to the older and classic movies. You can even start your collection of action movies from your favorite actors. And you can enjoy watching your movie in the comforts of your home with your favorite popcorn and soda in hand.
2008: Year of the Superhero Film
Prior to 2008, superhero films were often thought of as indulgent action based fanfare, but not movies featuring complex themes, plotlines, and Oscar worthy performances. While the previous years saw great superhero movies like Batman Begins, Spiderman 2, and X-Men 2, these titles were blown away with the superhero films of 2008, mainly The Dark Knight, Iron Man, and Hellboy 2. In terms of critical acclaim, these three films passed all the best-rated superhero films from the same decade (with the exception of Spiderman 2). In addition, Heath Ledger’s portrayal of The Joker in The Dark Knight won arguably the first legitimate non-technical Oscar ever awarded to a superhero film.
This new tradition has been upheld with films like The Watchmen and Ironman 2, and with Captain America on the horizon, the future of superhero films as art is brighter with each day. Perhaps one day it will be a superhero film capturing most of the awards on Oscar night, instead of the dramas that have done so in the past.
Comedy movies as a way to relieve stress
Have you ever had a day where everything is working against you? And on those days, every minute seems to bring another setback or disappointment. Whether it’s losing your job or getting knocked down at the bus stop, we need ways to nullify the stressful or unpleasant events of our worst days. For many people, that escape comes in the form of movies.
After all, there’s nothing like throwing on a classic comedy DVD and forgetting your worries for a few hours. Comedy movies have an amazing ability to transport us from our actual lives, and sometimes we simply need that kind of escape. So always make sure you have a cache of comedy movies just in case. You never know when your laptop will be stolen or you’ll break a heel on your absolutely favorite pair of shoes.

Few experiences compare to a night out at the movies. The sheer size of the big screen combined with an intimate, communal setting, results in a rare form of cinematic magic. Still, there are certain comforts of home that the movie theater simply cannot match. There’s no option to pause the action while you visit the restroom, for instance. Likewise, you can’t stop a movie in the middle and resume watching it later, when you have more time.
These days, most new movies are available on DVD just a few months after their theatrical release. DVDs can be watched at any pace and enjoyed multiple times. Many of them include bonus features such as audio commentary tracks, deleted scenes and other goodies. When you can’t be bothered to catch a new flick at the theater, enjoy a night in with a few new DVD movies.
